Jacques, Napoleon
Наполеон Жак (1804 – 1876). (Napoleon Jaques, N.Jacques)
Full name: Theodore-Joseph Napoleon Jacques. Worked in Russia for 25 years in 1833-1858.
Modeled a monument of Peter The Great in 1842, Kronshadt, cast by Peter Klodt.
Most likely he was the very first artist-sculptor out of those lived in Russia, who switched from classic forms to daily realism.
Images of Russian people in general – were his main focus, as well as the portraits of Caucasian people.
Later, same style was taken by Lieberich (a woman with rake, hunting scenes) and E.Lanceray, Grachev and others in early 1870s, who developed and realized thy style in full.
