Piotr Nikolaevich Tourgueneff (Turgenev) 1854 – 1912.
Was born in France, worked and died in Paris. Was relative to the famous Russian writer – Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev.
The artist became famous by modelling different animals (mostly dogs and horses), as well as human portraits of Nobel people. Executed a tremendous project of sculpturing over 20 life size equestrian statues. In 1897 was awarded by French Deffence Ministry with an ‘Ordre National de la Legion d’honneur”
Became a honored member of Russian Imperial Academy of Science in 1907 for his Russian statues and busts of Tsars, cultural leaders and peasants in general.
